  • "We have been biking in Jordan and especially the off-road section and biking through the desert we have enjoyed very much, and this was the main reason for selecting this trip. It was also good to make side trips to historic places like Mount Nebo and Mukawir Palace as well as a trip to the Dead Sea.
We have been very pleased with the professional guidance and detailed and accurate program"

  • "It was a fantastic trip, superbly organised and executed. I enjoyed the variety of the cycling. the group size of 8 was perfect - not too large or small. The staff (anas and Atev) were great fun, highly knowledgeable and worked extremely hard. the route was amazing in its variety, and the whole experience was on the right side of chalenging ie wasnt too hard to stop being fun."

  • "An excellent holiday. I most liked the last 2,5 days, biking through the dessert. That was magnificent. The performance of the guide and support crew was great.
One comment through. Try serving lunch earlier than 14.00/14.30 hours (especcialy as you start early with biking)"

  • "We loved the home stay and the Bedouin fixed camp. The other hotels did the job, but were not particularly notable or memorable. Raslan and Atef were excellent guide and support. We felt safe in their care and appreciated their deep knowledge of the the country and cycling.

A bit more info on the cooler temperatures this time of year would be helpful. We were fine and had the clothes we needed, but would have been even more comfortable with a few more cold weather options."

  • "An extremely interesting and quite varied trip. Seeing Petra again and more of it was great. Fantastic and varied mountainous scenery. All good really.

Raslan was a very good leader . Well organised and kept large group going to meet demanding schedules.

One thing to note is torch and sandals needed for swimming. Cold at times so need to emphasise adequate on and off clothing essential incl full finger biking gloves."

  • "We embarked on this journey with very little knowledge of this country or its people. After 9 days with Anas and Atef we felt informed and very comfortable and happy in beautiful Jordan. Everything Terhaal advertised was delivered as promised-in fact the experience was so much more than we could ever have hoped for
that it is hard to put into words. Our guides were magnificent-so knowledgable, capable, encouraging, supportive and FUN!
Accommodation was outstanding-we slept especially well in the "no star" places! The food was delicious-Atef is an exceptionalcook and coffee expert.
Anas is an amazing cyclist, patient, kind and helpful.
The bikes were very good quality with really comfy seats and the 4x4 pick-up was perfect for the job.

We can't recommend Terhaal highly enough. This really was a trip of a lifetime and we feel very fortunate that we "found" them. Terhaal is a wonderful company with an admirable philosophy and work ethic.Travel with them and you are in for a fabulous journey!"

  • "Was a fantastic trip guys, thanks for all your hard work putting it together. Atef and Raslan both worked so hard to make the trip enjoyable for us. Atef's roadside meals were great and Raslan was a very energetic cycling guide. Logistics of the trip were seamless, everything (eg transfers, hotels, riding water/snacks
etc) was so well organised. The rides themselves were incredibly beautiful and quite varied too; a good mix of hills, flat and downhill, as well as on & offroad. And importantly, whenever we were on busy roads, the support vehicles gave very good and much appreciated protection from the traffic. As an aside, I think the
adjusted moderate program that we did has sufficient riding in it. I think the original program would be far too demanding for the type of person that would likely come on a trip like this, who also wants to do some sightseeing and relax a bit. I really enjoyed the extra night we spent in Wadi Rum on this trip.
Although Aqaba also seemed very nice for the day we were there, I'm glad we spent more time in Wadi Rum rather than staying the night in Aqaba. Although I would also be open to having an extra night in Aqaba in addition to the 2 nights in Wadi Rum! For the next trip, I would suggest you try to get to Dana earlier in the
day if possible so there is some time to explore that area, and maybe do a hike. Dana seemed very beautiful but unfortunately we didn't really get a chance to see it properly. Having said that, the ride down through Wadi Hasa on the way to Dana was spectacular too, and it would be a shame to miss it. Maybe try to
    leave Karak earlier if possible.
Would highly recommend this trip to anyone wanting to combine some amazingly beautiful cycling with incredible sightseeing and interaction with local people. The guides Atef and Raslan were unfailingly helpful and enthusiastic in their organisation of the trip. The logistics were seamless. Was a fantastic trip around a
beautiful country with so much to offer."

  • "What an amazing trip! We did the one-night Wadi Rum trip and it was fantastic. Wadi Rum is absolutely stunning...there aren't really adequate words to describe it. Our guide, Khaled, was knowledgeable, patient, and funny. I trusted him completely on our hike, and he pushed me to try harder when I thought I couldn't. I cannot wait to go back. Everyone we dealt with at Terhaal was accommodating and amazing, even setting up this trip on a requested day as opposed to a day offered on the site. Thank you Huda, Abed, Khaled, and Salem for a memorable experience. We can't wait to do it again!"

  • Salam's camp was a surprise initially, as I had been expecting to sleep completely in the wild, literally where we stopped. But on second thoughts I realised that using a small camp like Salam's was exactly the right thing to do. By ensuring that there are proper toilets, and the ability to clean crockery, not to mention a fixed Zarb, the impact of the many visitors to the Wadi and to Salam's camp in particular is minimised.

Salam's camp was a surprise initially, as I had been expecting to sleep completely in the wild, literally where we stopped. Having spent a night in the Omani desert where a particularly dunderheaded guide assured us that it would be okay just to leave the rubbish bag in a desert, it was great to see that Salam bagged up all the rubbish
and put it in the big bin in the Rum village car park.

I would suggest that Salam's camp is pictured on the website as a 'typical site' in which Terhaal guests might expect to stay. Accompanied with an explanation that this is the most responsible and sensible way of spending the night in the desert. Salam was particularly considerate as he made a big effort to get us out of the Wadi for us to begin the drive to Amman in time for our flight.

Salam was great, with a fantastic sense of humour. Our whole group of 4 had an outstanding, brief trip. We all really appreciated the extra time and effort which Layali had gone to in order to accommodate our specific requirements, tweaking the itinerary. We made it all the way up to Amman Airport with plenty of time to spare!

The food was fabulous & plenty. & I enjoyed a great good night sleep under the stars.
The only thing that was a bit too much, was the heat (the weather was way too hot for a desert trip) but we can't control that. :-)))

  • "Our journey started once with the dawn of the 16th of August, a night that seemed drowned in the shines of the stars....stars that looked more like pearls scattered on a desolate shore, and it felt like the stars are talking to us about ancient days long forgotten by history itself. Soon mountains joined the stars in their call to discover a land where first prophets lived and died....all I could do is wonder about the beauty of creation! An eternal beauty that makes you wonder whether it's all just a dream.
Reaching the Wadi was a charm which informed us about the things to come, the thought of living in a tent was not that outlandish, it suddenly all felt right.
Our monotone life turned in something overwhelming. Sleeping was a waste of time n those charming lands, thus we spent a good deal of time watching the shooting stars performing on a serene sky.
The next morning revealed a new flavor of our , after meeting our guide Salem, a name that fits him so perfectly...a man who is at peace, so rare in our days....Once I started stepping on the rocky oranges mountain, I stepped in another dimension, I suddenly started to have contact with nature, I felt the heat of the rocks through my shoes, sunrays embraced us form all directions giving us a warm welcome. As minutes passed getting upper and upper I suddenly realize the importance of water and my senses wake up from a deep sleep, I could hear silence, I could smell and taste water like I never did.
Being at the peak brought tears to my eyes and tranquility to my soul. After so much effort, lunch time was just perfect....being there in the depth of the desert felt so overwhelming, its once of those moments that you would like to last forever... My should was nurtured with so much stillness and tranquility ...thanking the Lord for this amazing blessing.
The nobility of the bedus is rare and not easy to understand, it is only the purity of the heart that can make you taste a bit of it. It is in their black eyes and deep look that peace is reflected. It is ironic, our busy lives seem so empty...but the bedu's life is simple and content. I could have never though tat the desert could be so fascinating......as hours pass I could not but wish to be part of that desert, this experience, as good things do ended very fast leaving deep marks on my mind and thought. I can proudly say that "I am a bedu trapped I an european body".
A part of me wishes to tell every bedu that their lives are full of inspiration, beauty and peace, things that we definitely need in our lives, I want to let the person of the desert know that their lives are testimonies of prophet hood. Noah, Abraham, Hud, Jesus and Muhammad (peace be upon them all) as all prophets were people of the desert leading modest lives.
It would be great if this message gets to Salem as well and to all your team.
    Best regards from our family.2009-08-23

  • "Overall was a great trip. being that i do not have very much experience in scrambling, i found the course a bit hard at times. regardless it was challenging and enjoyed it very much. however, i would suggest a similar two-day long trip in which there is less scrambling and more general hiking/walking through the desert for the somewhat less experienced. while the jeep tour is great and a must, I would also suggest more hiking time overall."2008-12-14

  • There is nothing that can teach you about culture, about life, than experience. No book, no media can instill the kind of understanding and importance of being a global citizen. You have to get out of your comfort box, explore, talk about something other than the weather.. smile a bit more... We are so very lucky to have been invited for supper at a village with a local Bedouin family. It was an experience like no other and most definitely the high light of the trip.2010-03-19

Raslan (the bike guide) was always very thoughtful to establish enough space between us and the traffic and let us pause whenever we wanted to. Atef (the car driver) provided us with good and particular information and we had a lot of fun with both. It was a perfect balance of outdoor activity, fun, learning and responsible traveling. • "My "Madaba bike trip" was a bit modified since I was the only person who signed up. To Terhaal's credit, they did not cancel and the guide came for me alone. It was wonderful. My guide, Raslan, was kind and knowledgeable....not to mention incredibly strong. I must say that you've got to be in good shape to enjoy the experience to the fullest. I thought I was in great shape but it seems I'm not completely....biking in the sun with inclines is tough! But it was completely worth it. My guide had plenty of energy for the both of us :) Also, it was great to have cold fruit, juice and water available at any time. We also stopped to have tea with a local family which was just wonderful. I highly recommend going on a Terhaal trip -- I've already booked my next one! It's a fabulous way to discover Jordan in a non-conventional way. Oh and yes....my muscles are sore but that's what adventure is all about, right? (I guess the one drawback is that you have to find a Jordan-K uwait bank to deposit the payment in before the trip. This can be tough since most banks close by 3pm and I'm still at work at that time ... so I had to go out to the branch in Mecca Mall which was a hassle. Apparently, Terhaal is working on a system to accept credit card payments...that would be great!)" 2009-10-06

    Wadi Mukheiris Hike

  • "It was EXCELLENT in every way. Atef was very professional and inspired us with confidence. As we started the walk some soldiers on the hill said that we couldn't go up - but he very calmly and politely persuaded them. He knew the way through the boulders which was not always obvious to us. He was fantastic with the children - encouraging them but also safety conscious - telling them not to go ahead. He even carried my 7 year old over his shoulders like a fireman for the last few minutes because he seemed exhausted.

We loved Wadi Mukheiris - it was perfect for a family - especially that there was a wonderful destination to aim for - and also was uphill on the way (feeling fresh) and downhill on the way back (a bit tired). After the first part by the road (can you persuade the local government to remove the rubbish?) it was then clean which was nice. We saw crabs, frogs and tadpoles. No snakes. Our boys are 8, 7 and 4. It was perfect for our 8 and 7 year olds, and indeed our 4 year old managed completely fine (he loves walking and climbing) - but some 4 year olds might find it too hard. It took us 3 hours up, we spent about 45 mins at the waterfall, and 3 hours back down. With best wishes

  • "When going on a trip like Wadi Mukheiris the most important thing is to feel safe and secure with the guides you are with. Not only during the absailing, but also during the walk. At every step of the way I felt secure, safe, and taken care of. The guides inspired confidence and made me feel safe, and that should anything happen they would quickly respond and do the necessary. And I must add that Atef is truly a great asset. He inspires confidence, absolutely knows the Wadi like the back of his hand and which routes are more dangerous than others. He very quickly evaluates the abilities of each person in the group and makes sure that they are taken care of. His confidence and the security he shows is what made me very quickly forget my fears and simply trust that I would be safe, allowing me to just enjoy my adventure.
There really is nothing to say other than this was one of the most amazing experiences I have had and would go on another trip again in a heart beat." 2011-07-09

I enjoyed the lunch, especially the tea (twice!) - thanks Atef!, and the toasted sandwiches. Atef even gave me one of his sandwiches. My best regards to Raad and Atef!
The only 2 suggestions for improvement would be to accept credit card as a means of booking and allow USD as a payment currency.
The other potential improvement would be to add experience in whatever the location the trip ends. My trip yesterday ended at Dead Sea and although we had plenty of time, it was not possible to go for a swim in the Dead Sea. It would have been a nice quick bonus to soak in the salt."2009-05-30

It offers a wide variety of scenery, greenery, colorful rock formations, and waterfalls. And believe it or not, even on a hot summer day, this Wadi was most enjoyable; the shaded Siqs, the accompanying stream and multiple waterfalls provided us with just the right cooling we needed.
Although this Wadi can be hiked in one day, Terhaal programmed it over two days instead with an overnight camp, which we though was a great idea. This gave us more time to enjoy what this Wadi has to offer, and the overnight camp provided an even more authentic experience. Not only was the evening around the campfire fun and enjoyable, but seeping in the arms of nature, under the glittery skies, by the sound of the waterfall right next to us, and the even louder sound of the frogs that kept welcoming us throughout the night; wow, that was a most relaxing night! The singing birds all over were trying hard to wake us up as early as they did the next morning, and for those of us who insisted on sleeping anyway, Rakan's wake up call -although soft and nature like- ensured that we didn't! Well, he wanted us all to start early to enjoy the day the longest possible, and he was right. The Wadi had still so much more to offer.
The abseils which we did were amazing; over the cliffs and under the waterfalls. We are in nature safety conscious; but Terhaal's safety measures throughout the hike were up to standards. Moreover, their pleasant and enjoyable company, and their profound passion for nature made it a real joy for us.
This trip was definitely worth it, and we would do this and others with Terhaal over and over again.
Thank you Rakan, Oudai, Mohammad, Oxana, and Ra'ad for a most memorable hike."2008-07-27

  • "This was my first hiking trip and I must say that it was a fantastic experience thanks to the guides who had it well organised. In this Wadi I saw some of the most beautiful scenery in Jordan. As we hiked through the canyon we came across a different tropical environment for every kilometre. This Wadi full of water springs, waterfalls and hanging gardens was wonderful to see. Sleeping overnight by the waterfall was a great way of experiencing what nature has to offer. Yes it was a bit noisy with the sound of frogs & insects, but looking up at the stars shining so bright, while laying down with the sound of the waterfall just a short distance away, made this adventure a pleasant and enjoyable one to always remember. If you would ever like to see the 'Hidden Heavens' of Jordan which is what I would like to call it, then joining the programme Terhaal has to offer is the best way to do so.
The Rappelling was very fun as we did a couple over the cliffs and below the waterfalls. It could be a dangerous environment to rappel in but thanks to the professional guides at Terhaal it was setup with very high safety measures. This ensured us to enjoy it to the maximum. I would definitely consider joining another adventure with Terhaal as the information provided before hand was very accurate, and I really enjoyed every moment of our trip.
With Many Thanks to Rakan, Raad, Oudai and Atef"2008-12-30

  • "please put an evaluation about timeliness. we left late after being told we would leave promptly. i can see a few minutes if someone calls and says they are on their way, but over a half hour is too much. for foreign travellers, please put a few numbers of taxis with whom we can make early arrangements- it's really difficult to find a taxi at that hour." 2008-11-30

  • "Difficult to fault our day. The whole group LOVED it. The guides were friendly, encouraging, and fun, but at the same time, utterly professional and 100% safety conscious which gave us all a high level of comfort. Beautiful landscape: raw, remote and unspoilt. Wonderful to swim in natural pools and have showers under waterfalls. We acheievd a lot, but the day didn't seem hurried; it had a great pace. Jordan's No.1 company for adventure tourism!
The only thing that would have made the abseil more pleasurable was if we'd been given a glove to prevent rope burns. For the last abseil, we all borrowed the guide's and that made it MUCH EASIER."2009-07-02

  • "Our trip to Wadi Zarka Ma'in was a sort of surprise present to my kids especially Rania who had just finished a gruelling boring year of Tawjihi a week before. I didn't give them any details exept that were going to leave early and what to take with them. I can tell you it was a great success. Both talked about this adventure for days later and this means something (You know how hard it is to surprise and please teenagers these days!)
    Here is why:
    - Your trips are well organized, you are punctual and accurate.
    - You have a great team, they work very hard and are so professional, everybody has an excellent attitude.
    - The food was perfectly calculated and balanced even for hungry teenagers.
    - Your emphasis on safety made the trip even more enjoyable.
    - The area is so beautiful you simply have to fall in love with it.
My recommendation: Physically, this trip is an excellent exercise but for counting it part of ecotourism it could be more informative on our nature. The more you know about something the more you learn to respect and cherish it. By pointing out important plants and animals (like the birds, fish and frogs we saw) or even sorts of rocks by name you can inspire especially young people to learn more and care more about our environment.
I noticed the english lady asking about the rose flowering bushes in the wadi and someone told her that they were Rododendrons, which is of course wrong. These bushes are Nerium Oleander which decorate our wadis by blooming all summer. They are very poisonous though, so care should be taken that no one picks up leaves or flowers without washing their hands thouroughly afterwards.
There are excellent books on Jordanian flora and fauna in the royal society for the conservation of nature and the Jordan University.s Old people and locals are even better sources of information if you have access to them.
I congratulate you on you excellent work and wonderful team and wish you all the best Rakan.
I will send you some pics of the trip and special pics for Layali as soon as I can.2009-07-11

  • "Our recent trip to Wadi Zarqa on the 11 July 2008 was truly exhilarating, enjoyable and pleasurable experience; being able to navigate and rappel through some of the most stunning and spectacular sights Jordan has to offer was wonderful; this is a must for individuals who want a break away from the norm and put some energy back into an outdoor pursuit!
The attention to safety for all during the trip was seen to be of a very high standard and executed by very confident and experienced guides; particular attention to detail for safety was paramount at the rappel stages; with all of our group being able to enjoy the experience many and inclusive of my wife for the first time abseil-rappelling over some very challenging cliffs and verticals.
As a former member of the British army with some experience of this type of activities; I would have no hesitation in giving my personal recommendation in relation to this trip being a thoroughly enjoyable, challenging but safe experience.
    Don't forget your camera!!!
Looking forward to more trips with you!
    All the best to Terhaal.2008-12-03

  • "If you have ever wanted to see the natural beauty of Jordan, this is the company to speak with. Terhaal Eco Adventures has some of the friendliest and the most knowledgeable guides I have ever met and can take you to some incredible places. The hike I chose was Wadi Zarqa Ma'in, a beautiful Oasis in the middle of the wilderness where you can come across a wide range of wild flora and fauna as well as numerous Bedouins watering their goats and donkeys. Beyond being friendly and knowledgeable (and being full of stories about Jordan), the guides clearly had safety in the forefront of their minds in whatever we did including in the selection and care of the rappelling (abseiling) equipment. I know for certain that if I am able to return to Jordan I will ensure I take the time to go on another excursion with them and highly recommend them to anyone who is planning a trip to Jordan - or if you aren't sure where to go, going to Jordan on an eco-adventure with Terhaal would be an excellent plan." 2009-06-15

  • "Thank you for a wonderful trip to Zarqa-Main canyon. I so appreciate your eco-consciousness and community awareness. I found the guides to be both friendly and competent and the equipment excellent. I think it will move smoother and faster if first time rapelers experience leaning back and releasing the rope before going over the ledge, as your guide demonstrated. Some had difficulty/nervousness letting go of the strap because they didn't know what to expect from the rapel ring. A few seconds leaning back in a safe setting and learning to trust the rope and understand how to release it may help speed things up. Also, the wait at the final rapel was probably a little longer than necessary--for those who went first, it would have been quite long. Understanding the need to give guides a lunch break/rest, it seemed a little bit longer than necessary. Otherwise, a very well organized and pleasant trip. I will join you for more."2008-12-03

  • We had a great hike through this gorgeous canyon. Our guide, Atef, is probably the best guide we ever had: patient, intelligent, knowledgeable and with a good sense of humour. The trip involves some climbing, but even the unexperienced can manage with Atefs help. At the waterfall you can shower under it while brews some special sage tea. We came back wiser and happier.

  • Completing this trek prior to visiting Petra did give me a better appreciation of the Bedouin life. The support which we received from our guide and support crew was outstanding. I am still amazed at the quality of the meals which were provided at each campsite. Please be aware that the days are long and there is a lot of climbing which can be brutal when temperatures are 85-90 F even in October. If your goal is to explore Petra, I would recommend spending more time in Petra after the trek as one walk through is much too short to fully appreciate the site. I would highly recommend booking through Terhaal for their communication and high level of customer service.

  • This trek is a fantastic journey. The scenery and people were amazing, our guide was knowledgeable, friendly and always had a date or almond to gee us up. We were lucky enough to have a small group of five and so felt we really had a personal service everywhere we stayed.

I've got to complement the food we had when camping. How meals of that quality are prepared in the middle of the desert in a small tent is beyond me; amazing!

And finally to end a stretching, but beautiful, trek with the magnificence of Petra is just the cherry on the cake. I can't recommend this trip enough!

  • Jordan Adventure tour is to be recommended to anyone who likes nature, hiking, sideways. The choice of trips was excellent, not too difficult but still serious enough. The transportation was extremely good and the driver Hussein from Easy cars was responsible, reliable and took care of us all the way from the first step at the airport in Amman to the airport again on the way back. Thank you Terhaal!

We fully enjoyed the program Terhaal made for us and we loved every minute of our Jordan Adventure trip.
I hope that I’ll get the chance to travel with Terhaal again.
