About Terhaal

Terhaal is an ecoadventure travel company that operates quality adventures that are enjoyable and environmentally friendly in a responsible manner. Terhaal runs a variety of adventures including canyoning, hiking, trekking, camping, cycling, camel riding and scuba diving.

The adventures that Terhaal operates include weekend activities, day activities, multi day activities and complete packages. Most of the adventures are designed to be suitable for everyone, although some adventures may require previous experience and/or adequate level of physical fitness.

Terhaal invests time, effort and money on safety and quality of its adventures.

About our adventures

Our adventures are designed to meet expectations of a wide range of tastes and preferences; so long it is adventure and nature that you desire.

Most of our adventures are designed to be suitable for everyone.

Our adventures focus on areas off the beaten track.

Weekend, day adventures and multi-day holidays are all provided.

Preset scheduled adventures in addition to tailored adventures.

Our adventures are run with small groups; 16 or less.

Our guides

Terhaal employs qualified guides that are experienced, highly trained and environmentally conscious.

Terhaal guides undergo extensive training at the beginning of their employment, in addition to periodical training throughout their employment in which also includes technical training and first aid.

Our equipment

Terhaal uses new specialized equipment of internationally recognized brands. Equipment is well maintained, properly stored and constantly inspected.

Safety

Preventative measures are taken to insure safety; including the provision and use of safety gear, hiring responsible and trained guides, using proper equipment and choosing the safest trails and give instructions that maximize safety where it is possible, without compromising the excitement element of the adventure.

Responsible travel

At Terhaal we realize the importance of responsible travel and the effects it has on the local culture, the community and the environment. During our trips we plan and take advantage of opportunities for interaction with the locals. Our guides provide adequate briefing about the local culture, including habits, gestures and showing appreciation and respect.

In order to support the local communities and contribute to improving their well being, we try to maximize the utilization of the services and products of the local community in the area being visited.

Protecting the environment and ecosystems visited is sacred to us at Terhaal. Our trips are only organized with small groups to minimize the strain on the eco system being visited.

Our guides ensure that our clients are made aware of best practices to protect the environment, in addition to provide info about the local environmental challenges and how to contribute to their alleviation.

Our story

Terhaal means ‘to be in a state of constant travel’ in Arabic and refers specifically to the nomadic lifestyle of Bedouin Arabs. The Bedouins, like most indigenous peoples, are renowned for a lifestyle that is in total harmony with nature and in Terhaal we strive to remain true to that ethos.

The idea of Terhaal came about when a young Jordanian couple, who spent most of their free time exploring and wandering through Jordan’s many valleys and gorges, decided that they wanted to share these natural treasures with visitors who prefer to stray off the beaten path. Together with two other friends they decided to start an Eco-Adventure Operator that would show people the true face of Jordan, benefit local communities whilst minimizing any impact to the environment. Terhaal also strives to reveal to Jordanians the natural wonders of their land that remain a mystery to many.

As we grow, we hope to offer more adventures of unparalleled excitement across the Kingdom. Until then, we will strive for excellence when offering our guests to Jordan a truly enchanting and green experience.
